Where is Marina Del Rey, CA?

The Marina Del Rey community is located 4 miles (15 minutes) north of LAX and is between Venice Beach and Playa Del Rey. Santa Monica is nearby just a few minutes north.

Lunch on Admiralty Way

We've enjoyed lunch at multiple eateries including The "World Famous" Warehouse Restaurant, Tony P's, and Killer Shrimp. These waterfront restaurants offer large portions at reasonable prices.

The Warehouse Restaurant has an awesome theme and my brother said it felt like we were at Universal Studios Hollywood. Outside, there's a pond with turtles, Koi fish, and you can even feed the fish as there's a $0.25 food dispenser by the entrance. Inside, the restaurant is has a nautical, fisherman theme and I loved how our booth was set in what looked like a box.

Souvenir from The Warehouse Restaurant

Complimentary postcard

We enjoyed the complimentary postcard and our group photo was available for $20. We were in the mood for a souvenir, so we purchased the framed image.

Our food was delicious! I ordered 6 Oysters Rockefeller complete with spinach, bacon, and hollandaise sauce for $17.

My brother Sean ordered the Roast Beef Dip Sandwich for $20, which consisted of Thinly-sliced roast beef, caramelized onions, on a French roll, served with au jus.

My other brother Steven, ordered the Admiralty Turkey Club sandwich for $18. It consisted of Applewood-smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado, with sage mayonnaise, on whole white bread.

I thought the little monkey hanging onto the straw of my Diet Coke was cute.

Walk to Mother's Beach

$1 Water Bus goes to multiple stops in Marina Del Rey, CA

After lunch, we typically walk to Mother's Beach and look at the various yachts parked at the Marina. This time, we saw some sea lions on the dock.

$1 ticket

Once at the beach, we hopped on the $1 Water Bus, which only runs in the summer until 9/2.  The Water Bus took us from Mother's Beach to Burton Chace Park and Fisherman's Village, where I picked up a Marina Del Rey hoodie.

Paddle Board in the Marina

I rented the Paddle Method board at Mother's Beach

If you're up for getting on the water, you can rent a paddle board from Paddle Method or Pro SUP Shop. I've only ever used Paddle Method and I've usually gone in the mornings when the water is calmer. I once did a sunset paddle and it was awesome but the water was tougher to paddle through and created a tougher exercise.

Explore Fisherman's Village

If you're up for it, you can paddle board from Mother's Beach to Fisherman's Village or take the Water Bus like we did. When we docked at Fisherman's Village, loud music was playing and people were dancing and doing the electric slide. Fisherman's Village was lit!

Dinner at Beachside Restaurant & Bar

The view from our table

If you want a nice dinner overlooking the water, opt for Beachside Restaurant. I spent my birthday here and my family and I took a nice stroll along the water afterwards. It was such a nice atmosphere.

Mother's Beach at night

Overall, you can easily have a fun-filled day in Marina Del Rey, CA especially if you're looking to get away from touristy Santa Monica or Venice Beach.
